Art and D.T.
At St. Mary’s, we love being creative, and we often link our art and D.T. curriculum objectives to our topic work.
In art, we use our sketchbooks carefully to help develop ideas and practice skills, for example how to create different effects using watercolours. We use a range of materials from clay to wire, and evaluate our work carefully to help us create the best possible piece.
In D.T. we follow the process from design brief, to design ideas, to creating and finally evaluating. Children are taught a range of skills from creating linkages and levers when designing and making posters with mechanisms, to accurate measuring, cutting and joining when creating Ancient Greek temples using wood.
