Pupil Voice
At St. Mary’s, the pupils are at the heart of all we do. We have a range of pupil voice teams, led by our Year 6’s. These pupil voice teams draw together our values of Love, Respect and Belong, with some, such as Pupil Council, having representatives from all year groups.
The Head Pupils work closely with Mrs. Ayres on a focus project for the year. The ideas for this project form part of their interview for the role, where they need to be able to explain and detail their idea. This year (2021-2022) the project will be based around the school coming back together as one after a turbulent 18 months of the global pandemic. Here is the link to our Head Pupil’s Podcast:

The Pupil Council work on specific aspects of the School Development Plan, and have representatives from each year group. These representatives have to put themselves forward, and deliver a speech explaining why they would be suitable to sit on the Pupil Council. Their year group then votes for their representatives for the year.
The Church Council work with the Church Council from other church schools in Alton, and have a fundraising/ charity focus each term. They will also deliver a Collective Worship each term.
The Peer Mentors and Anti-Bullying Ambassadors work together to support children at break and lunchtime with fun games and help making friendships.
The Eco Warriors work to help the school be more sustainable and green. The children at St. Mary’s are passionate about caring for the environment and beating climate change, and this is another group that has representatives from across the school.
The Digital Leader supports the use of technology in school. They support teachers in Collective Worship and assist the children with their computing learning.
